We are saddened to report the passing of OBA's oldest member, Bill "Pops" Pierson, on December 19, 2001 at the age of 103. Services were held December 22nd at the Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, Texas.
Pops, father of OBA Chaplain Howie Pierson, was one of those rare birds that people couldn't help but consider a friend, even after having only met him briefly. Known for being able to get every lady at a social function to be eager to dance with him, Pops was truly a nice guy and a very staunch supporter of the OBA, alongside his son Howie.
Pops also spent many hours volunteering at a local food pantry helping others, which was typical of him... he truly showed the joy springing from his deep love of God. Many folks will remember the trademark business cards that he handed out to new friends, which read: "Christ Died For Me - I'm 103! 'The Greatest of these is Love' I Cor. 13:13 WILLIAM H. PIERSON, 'BEDFORD BILL', 1898- " We can be quite certain that Pops is now home with the Lord, and that he's smiling down upon us still cheering us on!

Farewell, Pops... until we meet again...
