OBA Update - June 27, 1999
SUMMARY: Jim Graham steps down, Tim Sikorski joins BOD, Bronco Fest 99 update, OBA Birthday party, new members
First, an announcement from El Presidente:
I take great pleasure in announcing a new member to the OV-10 Bronco Association Board of Directors. At a recent meeting of the Board, Tim Sikorski (firstname.lastname@example.org) was unanimously elected to our Board of Directors. Tim is a former Black Pony of VAL-4 and a current Captain for American Airlines. He lives in Flower Mound, Texas. We look forward to working with Tim.
I must also report the resignation of Jim Graham from the Board and as Vice President. Jim will continue with Member Services activities and as an active member, but personal demands require that he step down. We will miss his insight and ideas at Board meetings, but we know where he lives and we plan to keep him busy as much as possible. We appreciate his past efforts and wish him well.
Attached you will find advanced notice of Bronco Fest '99 - Rendezvous in Texas. Planning is still in progress. If you think you might attend, we need to know. We are asking for a commitment, just an idea of how many folks to expect.
[We have created a separate, semi-permanent page for the latest info about Bronco Fest '99 at http://www.ov-10bronco.net/OBA/Events/Broncofest99/ Check it often for the latest BF99 updates! Hmmm... BF99... that kinda sounds like a German WW2 fighter, doesn't it? J - Merlin]
There are now 103 days till Bronco Fest '99.

Now, for Jim's regular OBA Update.
It has been a busy spring so far. In addition to opening the museum and receiving our GSA certification, planning has begun in earnest for Bronco Fest '99 - Rendezvous in Texas. There are now 103 days until Bronco Fest begins. The museum and its displays will be an ongoing process, and we have started the work of cataloging and preserving items for eventual display. We are also conducting meetings with the Vintage Flying Museum to work on a master plan that will encompass the goals of both organizations.
But for now, the next big event will be the celebration of OBA's one year anniversary on July 10th. No specific plans have taken shape yet, but I would guess some type of birthday party will take place here in the DFW area. Let us know if you are going to be around.
Our membership is steadily increasing too. We are up to 83 members so far, just 17 short of our goal for this year of 100. Benjie Raymond's Listkeeper works have so far produced over 2,300 names of former OV-10 people too. That only leaves about 25,000 unaccounted for. Check your address books, and get those names into Benjie at email@example.com
Merlin has been working steadily on the WEB site and has finally completed the long task of converting all the graphics to thumbnails linked to the full-size pictures, for faster loading of each page. Then we told him we want on-line name search capabilities and a virtual museum. He does great work and we all need to thank him from time to time.
One of our new LIFERs, Jim Dearborn (firstname.lastname@example.org) has taken on the position of Airline Coordinator. He has created a recruiting poster for bulletin boards, and will supply it upon request. The effort has already produced various Airline Reps and a couple of new members.
We also have a bunch of new members, so without further ado, I am proud to present:
Former VMO-1 member: David Hallin (email@example.com)
Welcome aboard each and every one of you. This brings our membership to 83: 28 LIFERS and Founders, 19 3-Year Enlistments and the remainder (36) are 1-Year Enlistments.
